Luc studied Law at the Universities of Leuven and Toronto, and Finance & Management at the London Business School and at IESE (Barcelona). He also completed the Executive Master programme in “Consulting & Coaching for Change” at INSEAD (Paris).
After having started his career as Assistant Professor in International Law at the University of Leuven, he moved to banking & finance in 1983. With BNP Paribas Fortis (and its predecessors) he completed a career of almost 32 years, during which he had leading positions in several of the Bank’s businesses. From 1998 to 2003 he headed the emerging markets unit of the Financial Institutions Group. From 2004 to 2009, he was Global HR Director of the Merchant Banking Division, and from late 2009 until the end of 2014, he served as Secretary-General of the Bank. In this capacity, Luc was a member of the Bank’s Executive Committee and in charge of the Bank’s corporate affairs and its activities in the areas of philantropy and social responsibility.
Luc has now founded Duggan Associates and is its Managing Partner. He is chairman of the Board of Marmo NV, a family owned business in the food sector. Next to that, Luc holds directorships at Brussels Airport NV, the Fortino Capital II Growth Fund and Westmalle Trappist Brewery. In the social and cultural areas, Luc is chairman of microStart cvba, the largest Belgian organization in local microfinance, director in the BNP Paribas Fortis Foundation and director in the STUK Arts Center in his home town of Leuven. Luc is also a director in the Warande vzw, the Flemish Business Club of Brussels.
